Is Zoom Whitening Worth It?

Zoom whitening is an in-office teeth whitening procedure that will make your smile instantly brighter. It uses ultraviolet light to combine with whitening gel.

We get a high satisfaction rate from patients who opt for Zoom Whitening. When our dentists customize a teeth whitening treatment for you, we try hard to get the results you expect. For example, you shouldn’t expect that your teeth will be as white as a piece of paper. While your teeth will be brighter, the extent of that brightness depends on several factors.

It is also important to note that this teeth whitening treatment is not for everyone. Zoom whitening is ideal only if you have no existing treatment on the front teeth. This procedure is also appropriate only if your gums are healthy.

What to Expect During the Procedure

This teeth whitening procedure is performed only at our dental office. It can last for several hours, but the length depends on various factors. During the procedure, will apply a peroxide gel to your teeth. Then we will use a lamp to deliver blue plasma light that activates the gel. This action will whiten discolored teeth. Sensitivity is normal when using professional whitening techniques. We do advise our patients to take ibuprofen prior to their whitening appointment if they are prone to sensitivity. For this reason, Zoom may not be the best Whitening option for all patients. We offer customized take-home whitening trays as well as express 1-hour trays.

Are the Results Immediate?

After the treatment is over, your teeth will immediately be brighter. After the procedure patients will need to consume a mostly all-white diet. Colored foods like red meat, curries, mustard, coffee, tea, soda, red wine, etc. should be avoided for up to 3 days after Zoom.

Note that you cannot undergo a Zoom whitening procedure more than once a year. However, you can maintain your results by utilizing the whitening trays. A whitening toothpaste can also help. You should also avoid smoking. In addition, be sure to get your teeth cleaned twice yearly (or as recommended).
